HOW ALCOHOL EFFECTS YOUR LIVER, AND SEX DRIVE.

Are you noticing yourself having mood swings? One day you’re the next Pamela Anderson and the next you’re about as turned on as a busted light.

WTF?!

This last week, 3 days off = 3 days of drinking. What’s a girl to do when it’s 80-degrees and you can get free drinks by the beach?? I’m all about it, but then i’m all about cleansing right after. This time i’m really looking into how to get straight to the source and cleanse that poor liver of mine. Once I started reading about it, I couldn’t stop!

Our liver is our second largest organ (skin being the first), so it is busy ALL DAY! It stores vitamins, minerals and sugars for energy, helps digest food, cleans the blood, clears alcohol and toxins, and maintains hormones, just to name a few.

Our liver doesn’t actually produce hormones as that happens in different glands throughout our bodies BUT it does break down and metabolize our hormones so it really plays a significant role in hormonal imbalances.

More specifically - the liver breaks down the “steroid hormones” which include:

1. Cortisone - Controls your immune system.

2. Aldosterone - Controls the balance of the minerals sodium and potassium and water in the body.

3. The sex hormones - Which control our sex life and body shape.

When you notice that you’re puffier than usual, you’re gaining weight, and you see that cellulite creepin in, that means that your liver is not efficient at breaking down aldosterone.

Estrogen is the female sex hormone for us ladiessssss. Bet you want to know what fun things happen when this isn’t broken down efficiently…

This means that you have excessive levels of estrogen in your body which can cause breast pain and lumpiness, heavy and painful period problems, and weight gain around the hips, thighs and ass. AWESOME - no one.

For men, bulk loads of testosterone can result in upper body weight gain, excess facial and body hair and greasy skin. My fav.

The liver is also directly related to the hormone, insulin, which is very important when it comes to your metabolism and weight gain. Insulin regulates the metabolism of carbs and fats. Most people that are overweight have an imbalance in their insulin levels which makes it hard for them to lose weight BECAUSE insulin is a fat storing hormone. So, if there are excess amounts of it then you are promoting the storage of fat, especially in the abdominal area. This eventually leads to a fatty liver and may then lead to type 2 diabetes.

So if you’re interested in losing weight, speeding up your metabolism, reducing our risk of illness and vamping up your sex drive. YOU NEED TO CLEANSE YOUR LIVER.

I would start incorporating these foods into your daily diet asap as well as a supplement of milk thistle pills.
